About Our Name

Cougar Dome - Yellowstone Park, Wyoming

 

The real Cougar Dome is located in Yellowstone Park, Wyoming. Composed of the Roaring Mountain Member of the Cougar Creek flow of Plateau Rhyolite, it is approximately 400,000 years old. Rising 300 feet above the floor of the Madison River Valley, it can be reached from Seven Mile Bridge on the West Entrance Road by hiking two miles north on the Gneiss Creek Trail.
